RETROFITS & CNC CONVERSIONS

Efamatic Machine Tools have recently retrofitted another 72 inch Webster and Bennet with a Fanuc Oi TC control, 22 Nm axis motors and 30 kW main spindle motor.

The machine is completely stripped down at Efamatic
All mechanical feed boxes are removed
The slides are then ground
The saddles is built up with low friction compound and then ground and scraped to suit the slides.
50mm Diameter ballscrews supported by precision ballscrew support bearings are then fitted to both axes
The X axis slide was fitted with stainless steel telescopic covers.
The 5 station turret was then extensively modified and is now indexed by program as on a normal CNC lathe.
Indexing is by a servo motor with encoder feedback
the turret is hydraulically clamped onto a large diameter curvic coupling, indexing is less than 5 micron.
An independent hydraulic tank with oil cooler is fitted solely for the turret clamping system.
A new hardware cabinet with heat exchanger is also fitted to the machine as well as all new wiring and electrical hardware.
The CNC control is mounted on to a swivelling pendant and the hand wheel has an extension cable which assists during tool setting.

  1. A complete new slideway lubrication  system is fitted and the discharge of the slideway oil is controlled by the CNC thus reducing unnecessary delivery when the machine is idle
